The 1999 Toyota TAPESTRY Grant Program for K-12 Teachers offers 50 grants of up to $10,000 each. Applications are accepted in the Physical Science Applications or Environmental Education categories. The grants are made to classroom teachers who want to implement innovative, year-long science projects in their schools, and they are available to middle school and high school science teachers and to elementary teachers who teach some science in the classroom. In the first six years of the program, Toyota has awarded nearly $3 million dollars in grants to 293 classroom teachers. The deadline for entries is mid-January 1999, and application packets can be obtained by calling 1-800-807-9852 or sending an e-mail message with your name, address and daytime phone number to pbowers@nsta.org or ecrossley@nsta.org. Also visit our website at htttp://www.nsta.org/programs and go to the Toyota TAPESTRY Grants sections.
