The DWP, in conjunction with LAUSD, LAEP, and other groups, sponsors workshops for teachers in science, water, and energy-related subjects and serves as the coordinating sponsor for the regional competition covering LAUSD and The City of Los Angeles in the National Science Bowl. Four new curricula on air quality, water resources, Power Plant 1, and water quality are completed, and the department also provides about 30 additional titles for teachers. Programs for K-12 teachers are primarily available to LAUSD and private/parochial schools within the city of Los Angeles. Tours of Power Plant 1 are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tours are available to schools for grades 5 and up. Schools must provide transportation. For reservations call (213) 367-1328. Speakers can be scheduled for schools in the DWP service area (grades 4-12) by calling 1-800-322-8830.
