Access to the World Wide Web offers new learning opportunities for students; more effective communication among educators; new professional development opportunities for teachers; and access to global resources to be used locally. LALCNet develops and provides original materials and services that are of immediate interest to its subscribers and offers direct links to other web sites which support the education reform agenda. Examples of original on-line content include: the first interactive on-line K-12 bilingual curricula in California; the SMART Catalog; an interactive directory of teachers and others available to act as consultants and mentors to Los Angeles Unified School District teachers; and a collection of best field-tested mathematics lessons.
