Family CareHealth Initiative
The Partnership's Family Care Health Initiative increases community knowledge of physical and mental health issues so that families make positive changes in daily living habits and overcome health and social barriers to learning.
Recognizing that healthy families are central to children's academic success, the Family Care Health initiative collaborates with schools and community groups to help families to access health and social services.
The Health initiative hires and trains community members (called "health promoters") to serve as lay educators and outreach workers. These health promoters educate families about critical physical and mental health issues through workshops and health and dental fairs at schools. The Health initiative also conducts health insurance enrollment, community workforce development, community health education, and family-strengthening classes.
