Project Inquiry Overview
Project Inquiry held a week long training on science and technology at Samuel Gompers Middle School the week of August 17-21, 1998.  We participated in group discussions, science exploration, and had guest speakers.  Butterfly expert, Rudi Mattoni spoke to us about the 106 butterflies from the greater Los Angeles area.  Rudi Mattoni explained that there are many butterflies but most stay to one region and others do not leave a flower.  Some butterflies only fly about ten yards away from their flower and then fly back.  Throughout the many activities we were able to view the four different mouths of insects and compared them with that of the butterfly.  We were able to experiment how the mouth of the butterfly helpds it in sucking the nectar from flowers.  We learned how to use digital cameras and then download them on the computer and onto our web page.
