Bringing Water To Los Angeles

The Issue: Fresh water resources from the Eastern Sierra nevada Mountains are being diverted by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power from natural communities and human settlements in the regions around Mono Lake and the Owens Valley to meet the needs of a growing human population in Los Angeles.

• Should Los Angeles be taking the water from this region?
• How much water should remain in the Eastern Sierra Nevada's to meet the needs of the natural communities which have evolved in that region?
• How much water should remain in this region to meet the needs of people who have settled there?
• What compensation does Los Angeles owe these regions of our state for taking the water?
• What responsibility does Los Angeles have for resolving the problems which it's removal of water caused the natural and human communities residing in this area?
