FP unspecified grasses. San Gabriel and Santa Ana mountains.

FP many grasses, lawns. Common everywhere.
 *84. Leussler's skipper
Hesperia comma leussleri
FP many grasses. Ranges through all surrounding mountains. Formerly in hills of downtown. Not common. Should be monitored.
*85. Columbia skipper
Hesperia columbia
FP grasses. Santa Susanna and San Gabriel mountains. Exact range not defined. No longer common, should be monitered.
86. Sandhill skipper
Polites sabuleti sabuleti
FP grasses, mostly saltgrass. Widely distributed, although less common than earlier. Distribution and abundance data incomplete.
87. Field skipper
Atalopetes campestris
FP many grasses. Sporadic and never common, more usual in late summer. A tropical species reaching the edge of its range here.

FP many grasses. Abundant through range in all the mountains.
89. Rural skipper

FP unknown grasses. Similar to above but flies at a different time.

FP many grasses and sedges. Prefers wet places everywhere. Tropical species.

FP sedges in bogs. Known only from Santa Ana mountains. Should be monitored.

FP many grasses. Lowlands species increasingly uncommon from habitat loss. Tropical species most common in summer.
93. Brazilian skipper
Calpodes ethlius
FP canna. Found as larvae on canna in 1924, but never established although the plant is a common ornamental. Strong migrant which is sporadically taken.

FP saltgrass. Restricted to coastal march and dunes, endangered habitats. Where formerly known should be monitored, i.e. Zuma.
95. Silver spotted skipper
Epargyreus clarus
FP many legumes, usually wisteria. Sporadic vagrant from San Bernardino mountains.
96. Skinner's arizona skipper
Polygonus leo arizonensis
FP exotic tree legumes. Appears spordically, usually in summer.
97. Long tailed skipper

FP many legumes, usually wisteria and beans. Appearance erratic and may become breeding resident in good years.
98. Northern duskywing

FP many legumes. Only recorded from lower San Gabriel mountains.

FP scrub oaks. Recorded from city area in early times. Recent records at higher altitudes. Distribution needs study.

FP live oak. Found through out oak woodplant. Never common.

FP large oaks. Throughout area in oak woodland. Never common.

FP usually deerweed here. the commonest duskywing of the area at several seasons.

FP Ceanothus oliganthus. Only known in San Gabriel mountains where foodplant present. May be in Santa Ana mountains.

FP mallows. Common through area, especially in places where weedy mallows pcommon.
105. Large white skipper
Heliopetes ericetorum
FP usually Malacothamnus fasciculatus. Always present in proper habitat but never common.
*106. Common Sootywing (extirpated?)
Pholisora catullus
FP many pigweeds and amaranths. Earlier found along lower slopes of San Gabriel mountains. Not recorded.
